I love his music also and listen to it often.
He grew up in a Music shop with parents who knew their stuff so the apple didn't fall far from the tree.
I bought most of his songs on iTunes.

Listen to Joe whail on a beautiful Les Paul. Fantastic guitarist. Gotta listen to the whole thing to hear him make those strings talk.

I've really been enjoying this young man's youtube videos. You don't look at him and expect the blues to come out the way they do.

Sounds like early 80' British.

On the subject of band names, I have been playing music with my brother and a friend for a bunch of years, be having fun experimenting with recording and once in a great while play to a small audience, so we decided to come up with a name after a bunch of suggestions and jokes my brother was looking up at the bottom of the floor in an unfinished basement, I thought he was in deep thought but it turns out he was just reading the bottom of the plywood floor we have been using the name "This Side Down" since.

Now a few years ago two of my sisters and another friend have joined us to play at an annual food bank fund raiser here in Yarmouth called the Coal Shed Music Festival, we thought we should have a new name but have not been able to come up with another one. My suggestion was not accepted,I don't know why? It was " Girth Wind and Fibre".

I'll put a link to a clip of my sisters singing.

I like to watch the Eric Clapton's "Crossroads Guitar Festival" DVD's. You get to see a real cross section of guitar players -- "old timers" like B.B. King, Eric, Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, Jeff Beck, Sonny Landreth, and Bill Murray, plus a whole bunch of new blood. And yes, Joe Bonamassa is there.

Our library has the 2004 and 2007 DVD's and I just got the 2010 DVD for Christmas :). The next festival will be this year and I'm sure there'll be a CD of that one as well.

Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. I don't know how many people even know his name. There is a documentary out there about him that I saw a few weeks ago on the HD Palladia channel called Mr. Blue Sky.

Jeff, I didn't get the tom petty jeff lynne outside of the willburys connection untill I saw that palladia mr blue sky

Lynnes ELO ( I saw them in the Fiilmore in NY) was way over the top for its time and still plays real nice for my young friends now

The travelling willbuyrs are legendery, and I get the feeling it was his idea
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traveling_Wilburys

but I never got why the two  tom petty albums were way better than all of his others till the documentary said he produced and mixed them.

btw I also love petty

That is probably my favorite show on T.V.  Daryl Hall has introduced some artists to me via that show that I would never had payed attention to if not for that.

If anyone is interested, those can all be watched online.

stumpy

I always liked Jeff Lynne and ELO, but appreciated him even more after seeing that Paladia show.  I also like "live from Daryls house" as well, although his personality is a bit arrogant.  Having said that, he and Oats have always been one of my favorite acts.
