Any suggestion ... For a cable Skidder

 :o Hi, rough day just arrived ... an yes once again asking for some help. Because of what i do i need to start thinking in a cable skidder, 84´ 83´ i cant affort something newer, JD, cat, tj ... its gonna be a real chalenge the path were has to work up downs and a lot of 4wd.  ???Any suggestions ???

I like the JD or TJ use to have JD 440 ran a Franklin 170 some .

Any one of them should be fine if it has been a well  maintained unit during its years of use. The small timberjacks, valmets, and JD's are popular here.

I do not think that the JD 440 was made in the 1980's. By then you are into the 540 & 640. I think the 440 was produce in the 1960 thru the 1970's.  Another thing to think about using a skidder is the safety  provided by the roll cage. They keep the dead limbs and tree from hitting the operator. Send me an e-mail if you have any questions about the 440's - I have two of them.  mike
