Morning all.
I have been trying to work out a design for a edger/jointer similiar to a PH230. It will have a staggered bedplate with cutterhead like a jointer, and a vertical staggered fence with a sawblade midway. Combined with a powerfeed I should end up with a device similar in function to 2 sided planer.

Is only intended to resize/square up timber so a fine finish is not required. All material would then be passed thru the thicknesser to acheive final sizing/finish.

The question is. I only need a a coarse finish and a high tooth count blade(24) will only suck up HP. Has anyone seen a small diameter blade (with standard arbor) with low tooth count such as used in lucas/peterson? Alternatively has anyone modified a standard blade to achieve the same effect?

Thanks

What you are looking for is a strob blade. Check out THIS LINK for an idea on what is available. They make them as small as 8" and go up from there... teeth from 6 teeth per blade on up also.

Hope this helps !
