Pole ford suggestions?

I'll be moving onto a nice firewood job soon and there is a small stream to cross to access the property. It has been approved to use a pole crossing and just wanted to get some suggestions on building the crossing.

Just a though but them plastic culverts are mighty cheap...

Otherwise lots of big sticks in the bottom smaller sticks on top, layer of landscape fabric, and medium layer of dirt/rocks... like lasagna only not very tasty...  Maybe a layer of rock on the bottom for firmness.

Lay a piece of cable across the ford before placing the poles. When you are done use it to pull the poles out.

I have a grapple skidder so installing and removal will be easy .

That would make it much easier.

How far across the stream?  I've found the easiest way is to use timber mats, they're usually 12' or 16' long and will easily hold up a forwarder

from bank to bank it's about ten feet or less and pretty shallow. ;)
