I am looking for photos or plans to weld up the pieces that will be used to support a boom derrick crane.  This crane will be installed in the center of a cabin foundation and used to rig the logs up onto the walls.

Any  photos or plans that show ideas for building the lower and upper support pieces would be appeciated.

Lower support holds the gin pole and attaches the boom.  It rotates 360 degrees so it needs a ball and socket type of arrangement.

Upper support has 4 guy lines attached.  This is attached to the gin pole and needs to rotate 360 degrees without affecting the guy lines (attached with a rotating collar).

I need some examples so that I can provide them to the welder that will make these up for me.

Jander3,

Go over to the forum part of the  timber framer guild web site and ask Dr Gregg Mullin about his.  He teachs rigging for the guild - does a dang god job of it too.  I have seen his set up twice and love the way it works.
