I like a cup of hot coffee/tea sometimes while hunting in Colorado.  Here is a little jewel. It comes with it's carrying cylinder with screw on top, but you could easily roll it up and put it in the cup.

The kit came with an 18 fl.oz. cup/pot. I just had to give it a try so a trip to the hardware store for Denatured Alcohol was in order. (The esbit has not come yet.)

Bottom line, 10 oz. of water and 10 ml. (2 teaspoons) of alcohol. It boiled the water in 3 1/2 minutes and burned the alcohol up.

Here's where it came from:

I ordered a Gram Cracker esbit stove from here. The alcohol worked so well that I don't know why but I just did. You know.....toys..... :D

Mine's a little different, with the butane bottle, but is very small. I have it for the same reason. I also carry it on my horse so we can have a trail-side cup of coffee when packing. I use the Folgers singles or instant, it's not as good as regular coffee, but easier for a cup or two. Sure makes a cold day nicer.

Hey Magic, can you post a pic of it all folded up and ready to go?

    Thanks! :)

Here it is.  The Caldera Cone is a very thin sheet of aluminum.  It rolls up and everything fits in the carrying tube.  This is the easiest, lightest, simplest, and most efficient stove that I have ever seen.  Two teaspoons of alcohol in the stove, slip the cone together and set it over the stove, and then the cup sets into the cone.

I left the screw on top off.

The carrying tube fits inside of the cup.  With the bottle filled with alcohol, it weighs 7 oz.

Thanks Magic! :) That thing looks like it would do the trick when out by myself in the woods.
I have a backpack BBQ that also has a cooler built in, will take a pic and post it.

There is also a wood gas stove on the market to, compact and all.  ;D

The Esbit GramCracker stove came today.  1/4 of a tablet burned up before it boiled 10 oz. of water.  1/2 of a tablet boiled it in 5 minutes and before the tablet completely burned up.

Alcohol is faster and Esbit is maybe more convenient.  Both are winners.

I'm thinking that this could be made out of insulated stove pipe, a few holes in the bottom for draft and a grate.
A collapsible one would be cool.

They make a Caldera Cone out of Ti that you can use with wood, but it is $$$.  Plus, I want it quick and simple.  One advantage of the cone is that virtually all of the heat goes to the cup.  I have been using an Esbit stove for years, but there always was the problem of heat loss.  I'm looking forward to using this cone.

Also, as it turns out, there are a zillion ways to make small alcohol stoves out of Coke cans:

Yup, the one that came with this setup is made out of a Pepsi can..... ;)

The neat thing about the Caldera Cone, is that it supports your cup, provides wind protection, and concentrates the heat to the cup.

I have a classic XGK mountaineering stove from MSR. Fits in a coffee cup, burns any fuel, and sounds like a rocket taking off, can boil water ay amazing altitudes, but don't ask it to simmer stew at any elevation.,
