Husky 268

 Found a husky 268 for sale. could folks give me some info on this saw. It now has a bow on it, looks to be in good shape. they are asking $200.00 for it. is this a fair price? Thanks!

There was the se/sg, the xp/xpg, and at last - the plain open-ported 268.

Well, it does make a small difference as to how attractive the saw is, as the plain open-ported version were (and are) rated at just 3.2 kW4.4 hp, while the older closed ported ones were rated at 3.5 kW/4.8 hp....

 I went ahead and bought the saw gave $180. for it.
  It runs good, and cleaned up nice
      ser. number is 7230607  its a 97  she looks good for 9 year old...
       what does the ser. number tell?

1997 tells us that the saw is an open-ported (plain) 268.

The 268xp was replaced by the 272xp in about 1993, and the open-port version introduced at about the same time.

It should be a very good saw anyway, so don't dispair! ;D
