Does anyone else feel bummed out when they cut up they're last log...?

I'm thinking us baby boomers should have a new word for it.
Maybe something like "Out-A-logs syndrome" or "Need-A-Saw-A-Log disease"  ...

In Oklahoma cedar is encroaching on open lands at the rate of 760 acres per day.  It will be a while before the last log hits the mill or for us, tree hits the grinder.
I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

Yes, it leaves me with an odd kind of feeling.

Not much to say at that point.

Yet it's a lonesome kind of feeling.

Really hard to explain.

Not me. I'm happy when I cut the last log. That means I'm through with the job and it's time to get paid.  ;)  There's always been another job to go to. If I get bummed out it's usually because there's no shade or I've got the wind in my face.  >:(

I'm with you there Woodbowl, but I do get bummed out when 1 or 2 more logs are needed to fill an order.   Means another tree has to be cut.  :(   Is that time/cost effective?
Sense is not common

Firebass

I suppose it matters if your a hobby mill or do it professionally ..

bandmiller2

What really bites it is when an order is almost complete and you need one or two more pieces then you have to stick and store the rest of the log.Frank C.

After 6 hours of sawing I can't wait to finish our last log and get paid. However something very strange happens overnight..................I wake up and want to saw again. I have seen numerous doctors about this and no one has an answer. I tried Prozac, but I just ended up quartersawing every stick I saw. Please...can anyone out there help me? :'( :D

woodbowl

Have no fear Peter, time will cure your illness. If you saw for a living, your 6 hours days will only come if you get rained out, then you can return to the normal 8 to 10 hours before sharpening blades at night. Getting paid will still be great, but it means having to start another job and do it all over again. I wake up try to wake up in the mornings, but then remember I have to go saw again. I haven't seen any doctors about this because I can't afford it on this income. I've decided not to take prozac since it causes quartersaw syndrom. Please .... can anyone out there help me?

This year will make 14 years of sawing for the public with a bandmill. I think I may be getting a little burnt out. I had a strange thought the other day..... what if I could just saw my own wood...  ???  A fellow told me the other day that, there are things worse than having to go to work for a living. I said, what's that?  He said,  ..... not being able to go to work! With that I realized that I am truly blessed and should be thankfull for every day.  8)

I have sawed 27or28 years and have never ran out of logs. I may run out of certain lengths for short times and have even resorted to going out in the back fourty and do some shopping ;). It's more the case of running out of orders now. Woodbowl after the last 2 days I can relate to not being able to go to work I am so sick with the flu. I never get sick. I need to get out of this house. smiley_sick
