A timber framing contractor who has bought tools from us, in the past, has just send me some very nice pictures of his current project.
I thought I'd show them to you so you can see what can be done with different shaped pieces of wood.
All very nice work:

Remarkable and looking quite elegant.

Does he have a sawmill at the site to custom make the timbers as he goes along?  Seems would be hard to make up a timber order ahead of time with designs like he has.

Also, appears he doesn't work in the elements, and keeps the timbers protected from the weather while doing the construction.

Thanks for posting.

You can tell this guy "thinks a little different" than most.  It is beautiful and obviously took much skill and time and thought.  It looks kind of like a cruck frame, but I think it is a basic frame.  The arched braces and split center post look cool.  Definitely an interesting touch.
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

Some of those timbers looked like they had juggling marks from hewing.

I know what you mean.  My Dad wants to put up a new timber frame cabin on his beachfront property in Oregon.  One look at this and I will be sawing beams for the next 6 months.  Pretty sweet work.  What body of water is that?

WOW. His work and design work is unbelievable. I wish I had used him to design my TF.
