 Depends how nice it is, and how hard it is to get, and quantity.  I pay around 10-12, maybe 15 on the stump for average firewood.

upper diameter breast height (dbh) limit?
Or log quality limit?
Or just everything over a certain dbh?

Wondering if you get the sawlogs along with the firewood.

Firewood is paid by load, I average 6-7 cord a load. Logs are piled to the side and paid on scale, unless we buy the lot outright. As far as DBH goes, a depends on quality, I work around the good young growth for the stuff everyone else wont cut, or if it looks damaged it goes.

Drlewis we are in the same area and I am paying 15/cord in the stump.  Seems to be the going rate.  might be able to get away with 12 if its real junky stuff.

Cersosimo up in VT. is buying hardwood pulp,not sure of price.

i was at  20.00 on this lot. been there 6 mo. was told  at that price i am stealing it. he wanted more or leave. so i left. i own a 150. acres 2 miles away, 5 hrs later del. wood call me woodb. have a couple lots near by real close.

 Nys region 4 averaged about 12.00 a cord on the last couple sales. Unless its easy to get to, and easy to haul its not worth it.

So I  am guessing  the strong hardwood pulp market in Maine keeps the tree length hardwood market healthier up here.
