Auto Cycle Schematic - Wood Splitter

Good Day. I have a noticed a few wood splitter manufacturers are offering an auto cycle option which not only completes the splitting motion once the wood is engaged, but also returns the ram to the start position. I would like to adapt this onto my home made splitter. Does anyone know how this is accomplished?

   I would think that a double detent valve would do it,but I'd be afraid of it
