I recently came down with a bad bug, possibly the norvirus. Whatever it was, I was hurting Wednesday evening, pretty bad off Thursday and coming out of it on Friday. I finally wanted something besides water and gingerale and decided to make myself some custard.
I love custard but I have a habit of trying to simplify everything. Just so with my custard.
It's not as good as Mom's but it's easy to make and remember.

2 eggs
2 cups milk
2 heaping tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

mix well, put in a 2" deep pan. Place pan in a pan of water. Sprinkle with cinnimon or nutmeg and place in a 325 deg oven for about 45 minutes. When a knife comes out pretty clean it's done. Cool and eat, whip cream if you want it, I usually do.

mmmm looks like I'll have to make some more tonight.

I like grits as much as most, more than a lot and prolly not as much as some. But I just don't see custard grits. Course I'm kinda a traditionalist, I like mine with salt, pepper and butter. You can put cheese in em and I'll eat em but it just isn't necessary.

I just shouldn't be posting this stuff just before lunch, I'm startin to get the shakes.
