Title: Survivor
Post by: Magicman on March 08, 2017, 10:14:10 PM
At least there is something back on worth watching.  Two hours and there is already someone that I dislike.   :D

I had 2 I disliked but 1 went home.  8)

Did he actually think he was going to lay in that ditch "hidden" and listen to everyone talk. What a idiot.

I think this is going to be a good season. Several I disliked when they played the first time, a couple I like.

Now not only do I have to see culpepper law firm billboards and TV ads all the time but here he is again.

I happened on it by accident last night, half over. Luckily, I see it is on on(tom) demand.

I believe this to be the first instance of anyone using on as a double word. I miss you Tom.

I knew you guys would be happy. I was gonna watch but fell asleep. I'm sure Bob watched but he's not saying. ::)

There were some interesting twist, especially with the old dynamics created by old alliances.  I imagine that some of that will bite someone's butt when they are not paying attention, but one by one they will be weeded out.  ;)

Post by: Cedarman on March 17, 2017, 05:50:21 AM
It was interesting how the editors tried to make the vote suspenseful.  I have a few I want kicked off, but no favorites yet.

Well DanG, I hated to see Malcolm leave, but he was just too good of a player and was an obvious threat.  I am enjoying the twists.   smiley_devil

Was hoping for Sandra to get the boot but it was a good twist to an old game.

Title: Re: Survivor

I was also hoping for Sandra to go!

She was bold in saying that "I won't be going home", and I though then that she would get hammered!

I've never watched Survivor.  I understand the gist of the show, but what is the draw to watch it?  I've heard people talk about it in different places and it seems like a soap opera of sorts with people conniving towards others all the time.  Full of trickery and lies and etc...

What is the draw?  Why do you like watching it?  ??? :P

Post by: 21incher on March 23, 2017, 12:34:19 PM
That was such a great ending. The look on their faces when the idle was played made me break out laughing. I hope they keep mixing it up like that for the rest of the season. :D :D
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Jeff on March 23, 2017, 12:44:10 PM
Pure escapism entertainment. And so everyone still knows, there is no survivor bashing allowed. Anyone that doesn't like it, just move along. Nothing here for you to see. :)
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Magicman on March 23, 2017, 01:22:49 PM
Survivor is the only "network" show that I look forward to and watch, including the network national news.  When it is over, I go back to Discovery, Nat'l Geographic, Sportsman, or something similar.  Oh yes, I will watch any Country Music Awards show.
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Ox on March 23, 2017, 09:19:52 PM
Escapism entertainment?  The same as me watching videos of people flying their own small aircraft that they've built themselves and of people living and cruising on their own boats, then.  Comprende.
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Magicman on March 29, 2017, 09:06:22 PM
I hated to see it but JT made the typical Survivor mistake and was hoodwinked.  Going home with an Idol has to hurt.

That was fun!  Definitely some higher game play.

Leaving your idol in camp is like forgetting your gun   when going to a gun fight.
How could he not know he was doomed?
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Jeff on March 30, 2017, 07:53:36 PM
Even if he had it, he wouldn't have played it. They had him completely hoodwinked.

Yup, there are quite a few idols sitting in a blindsided's desk.

I haven't missed a season, but with the thousands of people who would like to get on the show, I don't feel it is fair to let people be on 2 & 3 times. Gotta be a lot of good talent out there.

I wouldn't be opposed to them spinning off a return show if they did it in addition to, not instead of, the one-time show.

Nice touch making exile "island" a reward instead of a penalty.  Cochran shared some very interesting strategy to Debbie.

That was a good night with the Queen leaving. :)
I thought Tai messed up bad and was going home with 2 Idols.

My wife said " how stupid is Tai to make everybody mad at him"? I told her he was just getting everyone to vote for him so he could play his idol and vote Sandra off with his one vote. Then he made a liar out of me and didn't play it. He should buy some lottery tickets.

That thing with Tai made me wonder if that was a put on for the "show" The voting went as planned and no one seemed upset with Tai. And then he did not use his idol after stirring the pot???
Title: Re: Survivor

It was odd indeed and put a bullseye on his long game.

So much is edited for the viewing audience which is fine with me.  Nothing like a bit of mystery.   ;)

Those idols are going to help someone.....or not.   :D

Still trying to figure out what zeke started out as...
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Jeff on April 20, 2017, 11:56:37 AM
OZZY doesn't have a chance to win because of the way he has played, and never will have a chance. He plays for the tribe, not for himself in every start. If you were playing for yourself, you would not make yourself a target by winning every challenge you can. OZZY puts himself in a position every time, where he must win every immunity after a merge. The tribe could care less if you catch fish, unless there is another tribe. Once there is a merge, the object is disassemble, not to strengthen. You never see OZZY with an immunity idol, you never see him even looking for one or talking about one. He relies on and exposes his personal physical strengths to the tribes in the beginning, which is his ultimate and inevitable downfall after a final merge.
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Ron Wenrich on April 20, 2017, 12:29:16 PM
Ozzy found one in Micronesia.  He didn't get to play it before he got kicked out.  He also found one in South Pacific (think that was Heroes vs Villains).  He also made a fake one in Micronesia that he planted on Exile Island.  It was later discovered and played by another player.

They didn't really show anyone looking for idols.  Its been more the practice to edit those that are either desperate or those that find it.

Sandra relied on her reputation as being the "Queen" and a 2 time winner.  Ozzy relied on his reputation of being someone who wins immunity challenges.  Both were downfalls.  Being too cocky has been the downfall of many a player.

To prevaricate is to survive.
Believe nothing of what you hear and only a little of what you see.  And you can't be sure of that either.
Paranoid you must be.   Cochran may have been Debbie's  savior.
The camera guy sure knew where to find the "eye candy".
I digress.

Dang! I worked late last night, I knew ahead of time so I recorded it.  Once I started reading I couldn't quit.  It will be fun watching it tonight with Mary later, trying not to be a spoiler for her!  Sorry to hear about Ozzie though, he has too much to offer, not to become a target.

Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Cedarman on May 04, 2017, 07:10:37 AM
Andrea is sneaking along and may be the one to beat.  Smart, athletic, and one other.
3 idols out there could do some damage too.
Sara still has her advantage.
Enjoyed last nights show.  Glad to see Zeke gone.  All the ones I wanted off are now history.
Wouldn't annoy me if Tai left though.

Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Raider Bill on May 11, 2017, 09:18:46 AM
Tai and Sarah both have 2 idols/advantages

Women out number the men [not counting tai]

Culpepper pulled a rabbit of of his butt winning that challange or he's of been gone.

I don't see a clear leader here.
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: Magicman on May 18, 2017, 07:51:36 AM
The screws are tightening, but of course we do not know the actual dynamics that are taking place.  There is a lot more trust than we have been led to believe, but there is also some serious backstabbing.  So far it has just been an entertaining show for me.  Those idols should play heavy in the end.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm glad that Culpepper didn't win!  He was so sure he'd win, because he had won the immunity necklace 5 times!

Title: Re: Survivor

Those who "could" have been my favorites were voted off earlier, so this was a "watch and enjoy" series for me.  In the end, I was happy for Sarah.

I'm looking forward to the next series where there will be no "returns".
Title: Re: Survivor
Post by: reswire on May 25, 2017, 08:51:03 PM
I'm glad there are no "returns" coming up next time.  How many "great" personalities, have never had a chance to play?  I would love to see a new "Russell Hance" show up.  He was a real jerk, but it sure was fun watching him play! ;D :D
