what do folks charge for felling timber and skidding. here at the mill they give you 22 cents a board ft. for pine. i am trying to figure out how much i should pay for the pine timber that i am going to buy. tahnks for any help.

In our northeastern. Appalachian hardwood timber most contractors are getting around $70.00 / thousand board feet for cut and skid.

We have sold some of our standing spruce for $120/thousand board feet.  The same guy that bought the same wood also charged me $100/ thousand bd ft for skidding.  High fuel costs were a big part of that charge.  That same spruce will bring in around $450/ thousand bd ft up to $600/thousand bd ft depending on lumber size and length when sold  as rough sawn lumber.  Around here there isn't alot of money to be made sawing average grade lumber.  It is the value-added products that bring in the $$ :)
