Just thought I would post a picture of the three saws I was cutting with today.  The big boy in front is a Homelite 7-21C [48" bar] from the late 50s, the middle saw is a Stihl 048 AV [36" bar] from the mid 80s, and the new firewood saw a Husqvarna 455 [20" bar].

It is amazing how far they have progressed in 50-60 years. I'm sure glad they did. Are you getting much work out of that Homey?
Let's all be careful out there tomorrow. Lt40hd, 22' Kenworth Flatbed rollback dump, MM45B Mitsubishi trackhoe, Clark5000lb Forklift, Kubota L2850 tractor

I use it on occassion, but try and keep the work to a minimum.  I will be going through the whole saw just as soon as I get an parts diagram and maybe a manual.

:D :D The 455 isn't a progress, it is a giant leap backwards regarding power to weight - on the alter of EPA.....

We best get used to it, the new emission standards are not going away. The 2 stroke as we knew it simply won't cut it anymore.

Here! One is already up and running and the other will not be too far off.  They use 3/4 of a pint of SAE30 to a gallon.  If that isnt a soot burner then nothing is.

The 455 is a great saw and works just as it was intended.  If you need more saw, then go to the 460 or a 359.

when the epa makes the chainsaws run 4 stroke motors they must be bringing a guy to each job to handle the extra weight eh? maybe that's how they will get the unemployment rate to drop? :D
