Jay maine. The other mill they were looking at to convert to cardboard was Duluth

snowstorm

The advantage with the Jay Mill was that machine was already shut down so they wouldn't lose any production by converting it

They need the cardboard to box up all of the stuff my wife buys on Amazon.

I don't care why they need it, just glad they have a need and the economic conditions are good enough for them to go for it.

Well, that would be a win-win because the plan Verso had before was to convert the Duluth mill to use recycled paper, and not even take any roundwood anymore. That would have been a real bummer for our spruce and balsam market.
Too many irons in the fire

Well the construction on our new arauco plant here is really something. Very large mill that will change things in the Great Lakes region forever. And it already seems as though our two current pulp mills are running lower on inventory then usual.

It's great news to hear of a pulp mill reopening or expanding.  Not a common occurrence.

That sucks so it's just wasted land after the paper company sells it to the state?

Sounds like Oregon, we did a government job a while back that was productive ground that they had us convert to a bird area to keep people from out to the area. After we did that job they bought most of the farms out ripped out the drainage to flood the rest that were below them to take them out of AG land to wetlands.
