Actually anytime is Gumbo time, but today was especially right.  Not seafood, but chicken but still with the sausage and everything else.  Yesterday it was a bowl of Chili and I love Soup, but Gumbo is always my favorite "cold weather" warmer upper.   food3

Just had split-pea w/ ham, it was some good but send some gumbo my way. Funny, my wife is from Loo-siana, cooks jambalaya, red beans/rice, all the good stuff except Gumbo :-\.  And that was andouille sausage right?  Just want to make sure what I'm missing ;D

I love me some gumbo, but swmbo can take it or leave it.  Made a big pot of vegetable/beef soup yesterday (have never figured out how to make a small pot);  we'll eat on it 3 or 4 days and throw the remainder out.

That is a good idea. I was thinking of some yesterday. Do you use your own deer sausage or smoked from the store? Either way is good. Just finished some good hot potato soup and the gumbo bug is biting. Thanks for the reminder.

She puts both the venison sausage as well as some Polks mild original sausage in it.

I just cleaned up the last bit a little while ago.  MMmmm.
