I lost the manual to this thing, and can't remember the oil mix ratio.

It is about 20 years old Craftsman, 3.7 / 18", red, heavy built.

Just hoping maybe someone here can tell me.   Seems like 32 to 1 but would like to know.

32:1 with proper chainsaw oil would be my guess.
16:1 with 2 cycle oil but I wouldn't use that.
You can contact Poulan if you have the serial number or model number to be sure.

The 3700 and 3800 were both 3.7.

Some of the older Craftsmen saws (red) were Roper saws.

The model # is half rubbed off but it looks like it ends with xxx"3 / 71".

Cast into the case itself is "9863 R"

Does that mean Roper, or Remington?

The saw has one unusual feature, a self-sharpening lever which moves a stone over to the chain.

Thanks for the replies, maybe this info is useful?

Poulan offered some models with the chain sharpener.

Teakboat,
I have one of those saws (I think it is the same as you're describing with the exception of the built in sharpener). I still have the manual somewhere in the office. If I can find it I'll scan it for you and send it to you. May take me a few days, I'm on the road and wont be home till Monday late. I bought the saw new in '86 i think. It still runs and I still use it. Actually been a pretty good saw. (Not as good as my Husky's tho). Only bad things I can say about it are it's heavy and has a manual oiler. I mix my oil 32:1 (I hope that is what the manual says). I think I remember comparing it to some Poulans at the time and thought that it was probably made by Poulan. Long time ago tho so not sure about that. I'll look for the manual as soon as I can.
