Pinched sawblade....

Pinched the blade. The chain would snag on the botom front. Spread it back open with a screwdriver tip. The chain moves through much better now. But...should I have that blade professionally looked at? How 'close' must it be?

I think you'd be OK with it.  Short of any major damage, I'd look at it, and if it' ain't cracked or discolored you'b be just fine.

As long as the chain moves freely it is okay.

Like they said, it should be okay.  But, you might want to check the gap of the undamaged portion with a stack of feeler guages, and compare the repaired area with that.  You don't want the gap too wide, either, as it will let the chain wobble to the side and cause excessive wear.
