I am helping a friend recover usable wood from 20 oak logs (12' length, starting at 29" diameters) from trees felled about a week ago. We are staging the logs for milling. We hope to get a few 2-1/2" slabs and cut the rest to 6/4. There is room to pull a trailer and the road to the property is just off of Rout 15 north of Lucketts.
Please respond if interested in discussing the work further and we will exchange email.
Michael
First check here under the Extras tab on the FF home page and select portable bandsaws then click in Virginia under the State dropdown and hit search. See if any of the members listed there are close enough to help.
If there is nobody there you can next try going to the Woodmizer site and under services check the find a sawyer list and see if that is an option. Good luck.
Thank you!

Diameter starting at 29", do they go up from there or is that the top end?
Possibly, 5% rule would apply, just how big are they and what do you have for support equipment?
Southside, I have to ask, what is the 5 percent rule?
Any business or sales which happen as a result of Forum postings agree to pay 5% of the proceeds to The Forum.
agreed with the 5% rule,

Lucketts is further up 15 than I remembered.
Sounds like some nice logs.

This is an excellent resource - thank you WV Sawmiller!
Thanks. I started a thread to see if any others offered a similar program and ultimately determined WM was the only brand to offer currently such a service.
