I have an 017 stihl I picked up dirt cheap that has an oil leak. It was run a long time with out oil. Was wondering if it ruined the oiler . Oil won't stay in long enough to tell if it pumps or not

Saw Dr.

We are going to need a little more to go on.  No pics, and you don't even know if it'll hold oil?  Anyone who responds is taking a wild guess.  I will say that the 1130 series oil pumps are pretty sturdy.
I don't try to explain to others why I play with chainsaws.  For those who already know, no explanation is needed.  For those who do not, no explanation is POSSIBLE!

Like the Dr said, just a wild guess......but it sounds like the oil hose is damaged.

Same saw, Same problem. Keep saw topped off. Sometimes it leaks, sometime it doesn't. Took to dealer, "Well, it's just extra oil draining off the bar." Still leaks. Pumps fine when running. Storing on side seems to work most of the time.
