Hello all, I have an Englander stove. Its a 30 of some sort cant really remember. Anyhow one of my ceramic boards bit the dust and honestly im too cheap to toss the money at new ones. Is there any alternative? I have a steel fab shop and was curious if I put 3/16" or 1/4" plates in there whats the drawback?

I dont need all the negative feedback about Englander. Its been a great stove and in 3 years I have had zero issues.

Thanks.

No opinions on removing the ceramic boards in favor of plate steel?

I have never heard of fire boards before but if you use sheet steel I would be afraid of it warping

Yeah I figured it would. Maybe not as much with the 1/4". Im just cheap and it kills me to spend the money on it. Im seeing it basically as a smoke shelf.
