Hi everyone, havent been on here in awhile. Im in the market for another new saw and plan on getting a Stihl MS 460 with a 28 inch bar. Im wondering how well this will work with an Alskan csm ? I know its got plenty of power but what size mill would be right for this set up ? Most logs here under 24 inch.Anyone have experience with this set up ? Thanks

It will but should be considered the minimum for decent speed. Ripping requires considerable torque, a little is good more is better too much is just enough ;D

So what would be the proper size 'Alskan" mill for this saw/bar combo ?

I ran a 28" Alaskan Mark III with a 70 cc saw for about 20 years. That wasn't really enough power so cutting was a slower than it could have been.

Choose a bar size that will fit your expected needs. If you get it longer than you need you will just have more cutters to file.
