I don't know if this is the right area for this but here it is. The Alger County Extension is offering a hardwood lumber grading class April 23-27 in Alberta Michigan(just south of Baraga Mi.) I took this class a couple years ago and it was very useful if you want to cut and sell hardwood lumber. Contact Jim Isleib at the Alger County Extension for any questions. 1-906-387-2530 or ask me and I might be able to answer. Bill

Not sure of the cost. It was pretty reasonable when I took it but we had a grant to help cover some of the costs. When I spoke with Jim he said there may not be any grant so the students would have to pay more. I think it depends on the # of people that attend also.

Is the class on lumber only or is there anything on timbers?

It was just lumber when I took the course. 5/4 random width.
