Kevin and Tammy from Logrite donated a 60" Logrite peavey as a Pig Roast door prize.  Since I was interested in one, before the drawing, I questioned Kevin regarding a cant hook.

Jeff and Tammy drew numbers for door prizes at the Pig Roast.  When Jeff got down to the last ticket in the box, he declared that person would get the Logrite.  He then called out #859.  My number.   :)

Kevin immediately sent his wife Tammy over to me offering to exchange the peavey for a cant hook.  I was a bit hesitant, but Tammy and Kevin were insistent.

I am the proud owner of a Logrite peavey.

.
I am even more proud of the Logrite cant hook that was waiting for me when we got home.

My thanks to Logrite for being a Forestry Forum Sponsor.

I love my 30" Mill Special cant hook. I was so happy with it that I bought a 60" Logrite peavey. To be honest, I prefer my old wood-handled peavey to the Logrite.

However ... I modified the Logrite peavey so it is more of a cant hook and I'm really pleased with it (I just drove out the roll pin that holds the point in and replaced it with a longer one that bights into the log).

Bottom line -- for rolling logs at the mill and in the log yard, I prefer the Logrite cant hook. For shifting logs in the bush I like my old fashioned peavey.

I'll finish this job tomorrow and maybe I will be able to use the Logrite.  Gabby will not let me get my hands on it.

When I bought my sawmill (used), it came with 5 various cant hooks and peaveys.  I have gotten by with them for 10 years.  I have been questioned several times on here about "no Logrite??"

After winning and using the Pig Roast cant hook, I knew that more were in my future.  They are just that much better than whatever is in second place.

When I got back from Colorado, a UPS package was waiting for me.   :)

I am now a 3 Logrite Sawyer.

I have the 48" and 60" peavy in those same colors.  You need to get those things to work and get the first scratches and scuffs on them. They just don't look right all smooth and polished. :D

Yes, 3M orange reflective tape.  If I am late on a job, a flashlight will find them instantly.  I have a wrap of it on most of my tools.

This reminds me that I have to buy another one for twisting hung up trees to the ground.

Magicman

The two old cant hooks and the 5" peavey will now live at the tree farm.  They will be used to adjust firewood logs for bucking, etc.

The short cant hook and smaller peavey (metal handle) will still travel with me.  They will just have to  "sit down, shut up, and hold on".   :)

If you are in need of a plug for the end of your hook you can make one in minutes using a hole saw and hardwood.
This one in the picture has an eye bolt for clamping the two halves together while the glue dries but I'll replace it with a carriage bolt later, when I find one.

How about a pic of where that plug goes? Didn't know they needed one.  Just curious

It's just a cap for the handle tube.
I carry mine handle down and the foam grip is worn off on the end.
Now it will ride on the wooden cap and steel carriage bolt head.

I would guess the tape is there so you don't accidently saw through them (see related post below...).   :D  It's strange but I rarely use my cant hook- with the FEL and lift hooks plus hydraulics on the mill, I almost never have to arm strong anything.... or maybe I've just gotten lazy in my advancing years.   :D

I got a very nice compliment on my Logrites on this week's road trip saw job.  The customer's Mother was watching me unload the truck and prepare for sawing.  When I lifted the three Logrites out, she saw them and commented that they looked very professional.  This was from a lady that no idea what they were or what they might be used for.  She only knew that she was impressed by them.

I continue to be also.

me and my boys love my logrite.  My 8 year old can roll logs with me onto the mill with it.  it makes him feel real good to move a big log around just be having the right tool.  sometime I want to get a 42" also.
I cut it twice and it's still too short

Without the LogRite Megahook, I would have been toast today.  But, I was able to turn a 24" red oak by myself, although it was a challenge  ;D.

I usually use the tractor on those....or a chainsaw amd splitter...

One trick, with the LT-15 GO....I snagged the hook off a cheap cant hook, and stuck a screwgate carabiner on it...wrap the winch cable around a heavy log that I cannot turn, hook into the log amd tension the winch cable, then get on it with  the logrite and move it as far as i can..then do it again. Sucks, but works.
