Electronic ignition module

Has anyone here ever unpotted a module and replaced components to fix it. I assume they use a zener diode and capacitors.Some of the modules seem to have a very weak spark don't know if its just too fast to see well or thin and wimpy.Frank C.

In direct answer to the question ,no .

I have no idea how you could cut one apart without damaging the components . Even if you did it would be a guessing game as to what component preformed what in the circuit .Chances are there is a little IC board buried deep within all that potting and the manufacturer is pretty hush hush about it .

They can get pretty complex .Some use tyristers for the trigger circuit in conjuction with a phase shifting network  to advance the spark in some cases . Clear as mud .

Any electronic part that is potted in epoxy or silicone is basicly not repairable. Toss it.
