I have a 395XP W/36" .404 chain. My question is: Can I run a 24" bar W/ 3/8"chain without changing the rim drive sprocket? The bar is a 24" .050 Husky. The chain is H46 Husky.
I have put the bar & chain on the saw and it pulls around without any problems. I have not started the saw and ran the chain.

Thanks
Bob

I have the same saw with the 24" 050 gauge bar and need to get a bigger bar for it, 32" would do me fine though. Is it possible to get one using the same sprocket (7 pin I think)? If it is what bar is best for felling mostly but will also be used for bucking the bigger logs.
Thanks for any advice.
