Have some nice cherry burl slabs. Very dense and strong. I was living on the job working. So i whittled at night. carpet knife, pin file, and strips of sanding paper.

Those rings must be hard to re-size, especially smaller.

That is a lot more difficult than it appears!   Very nice work on your part.  That is a special gift that will be around for a long time with a great story to accompany.

Thanks all. Yea they are a lot of work. They started at around 4 hrs start to finish. Then they started getting more complicated with holes and details. The last one, the rose ring took 8 hrs. I havnt made any since. But i have a new pile of cherry burl slabs for projects. Couple cribbage boards planned. Some good luck charms and love medalions. rings.  I also make guitar picks.

I need to get a table scroll saw, belt sander, and spindle sander... Could cut a lot of time off with the right tools. safer too:)
