Just did a vid on replacing the bandwheel bearings.  I noticed a vibration as I sped up the mill, and as it came back to a stop ...  like something was wobbling.  I guessed that it was the non-driven side.  I was right.   Haven't run it yet this season, just did this a couple days ago.   Need TWO bearings per bandwheel.   SKF 6305 2RS 1C3 is the part you need.

Thanks for sharing. How old or about how many hours you have on your mill?

mattyo5

I don't know the hours.   Had it since 2012, been cutting since 2013.  I made enough wood for a 16x16' shed and I've got 7 or 8 stacks of 1 and 2bys 4' wide and 4' high ... 8 -12' long.  I don't know what bdft that amounts to.  Maybe a 3-5 hundred hours?

eh, 500 is probably high estimate, 300 maybe 400 is more likely.

i wonder if this is why they switched to SKF bearings.   the bearings in there were china bearings.

Good video, thanks for sharing.

Did you get the replacement bearings from Woodland Mills?  I ask because many if not most of the "SKF" bearings sold on the web are counterfeit and are often indistinguishable from the real ones.  I recently worked with  SKF to identify an eBay seller of fake SKF bearings.  Google "counterfeit bearings" for more info.  If getting genuine bearings matters to you, only buy from authorized distributors.  You can check with the manufacturer to find them.

hell its likely I have counterfeits...  who knows lol.... i picked them up on ebay from a seller I've used plenty of times but it wouldn't surprise me if they were counterfeits.

on the WM site they have SKF bearings shown, but the model # is wrong...  they have 6203's pictured.   6305 is the correct model

One thing I would do besides what you doing is mark the fan belt so that you install it in the same direction it has been running.

Over all, good video and thanks.

mattyo5

Didn't know the belts were directional????    really?  never heard that one before.
