My grandfather told the pastor about my love of wood and woodworking. The pastor then requested a cross for his church. Here are some pictures of the cross.                                                                                                                                                                          The pic with it on the table saw is when the cross was un-finished. The white oak is ver curly especially the upright piece but the pictures don't do it justice. I just cut out part of one of the white oak boards and part of the other and glued them together (saddle joint?) then cut about a 3/4" (the thickness of the wo) dado in the cherry stock, mitered and glued it all together. I finished it with tung oil. Hope you enjoy.

There's a fine line between turning firewood into beautiful things and beautiful things into firewood.

Your choice of wood works well together. :)  Its a lucky pastor to get such a fine cross.

Nice work.  I don't see a pic of the tablesaw, though?  How much does it weigh?

Warbird , It was in the first picture under the cross . My guess 300 lb looks to be an older all cast iron top heavy duty model.

Thanks.  I meant the cross, though.  Was wondering about how much it weighed.

hackberry jake

I'm not sure about the weight, I didn't weigh it. I Hung it with a 5" lag bolt. I would estimate 30lbs or so.

That is some beautiful wood work with some beautiful wood.

It is worthy of praise and something you can take humble pride in doing for the church. smiley_clapping

Jake...Nice lumber. Good deed. Is that a Fender guitar amp I see in the background of the first pic?

Sure is. I'm more of an acoustic man, but I do get in an electric mood every once in a while.
