Unsure where to post this so here I am.
My JD4600 compact got 4 hours of heavy use regrading gravel after Florence. Rear differential seamed a bit hot towards the end of the day. Could lay my hand on it for 5 seconds but not comfortable. Is this normal after heavy use? Power reverser trans and loader all sharing the same fluid.

IMO that would be normal when worked hard especially on common sump and small oil coolers on compact tractors.

Probably would not hurt to locate and check the case vent. Dirt dobbers around here will find an open hose end.
