Replacing bar & chain lub flip cap on a Stihl chainsaw

The flip up cap on my ms250 broke this weekend.  I stopped by my Stihl dealer and he gave me the part, but I forgot to ask him how the retainer string is attached inside the tank.

Anyone ever replace one of these type caps before?

There is a plastic nub on the end of the string. It should just pull into the slotted hole on the side of the filler neck. If you got pn:0000 350 0526, the string and all should have come with it.
