Could the wood inserts that grip the tip of the blade make the blade wobble. If there to tight they could get hot I'm guessing and heat the blade. How close should those little wood inserts be to the blade? Thanks so much for the help.

If by inserts you mean the guides they should not touch the saw. Some guys may adjust them different but I try to have just a little gap between the saw and guides. The guides are only there to guide the saw if it dodges a knot or something similar they should never rub the saw or be used to force lead in the saw

guides should not touch the saw and i always oil them when i oil the saw
