Hi Mr Mom, can I assume from your name you are also a "stay at home dad"? I worked out in the woods of BC as a forest tech for a few years. My wife wanted to stay in Vancouver, soon was making double what I was - then I got layed off. Wasn't too hard to decide who's watching the kids.

Now we have 16 acres in the interior of BC, lots of beetle kill pine. Thanks to the advice of members here we bought a small mill and are going to try building something.

Good to have you here.

Mr Mom

Welcome Mr. Mom

when we were first married we decided someone had to stay home with the kids. I wanted to be the one but my wife was afraid I would lose a kid somewhere so I ended up being the wage slave.

I worked out well but I still think I got the raw end of the deal.  ::)

So, how did I end up here anyway?

you can tell her that the lumber you make for yourself is just practice,
so you can make money with the mill after that. then when your makin all that money she can stay home if she wants. see it's a win win situation.

oh yeah don't mention the other equipment your gonna want just yet, get yourself the mill first. keep us all posted.

solodan--- had to convince her to let me get a mill, that took weeks(felt like years :D :D) but she said that i could use tax money. As for the other equipment i have a friend that skids with horses. one friend says that he cound come over with his tractor. the rest of the equipment is me  :D :D.

welcome to the forum Mr. Mom.  I know my wife and I have talked about me being a stay at home dad but usually only when my son has been more than a handful that day.  when he is easygoing and content then she thinks it best that I work and she stays home.  :)
Love the outdoors, chainsaws, my 300 win mag, my wife and my son but not exactly in that order.

Nothing wrong with doing a business plan for your toys... As long as they are break even, there isn't an issue.

Why do you think I have plantations in Costa Rica?  ;)

So, how did I end up here anyway?
