Title: Climate Projections for Michigan Tree Species

RE:  CLIMATE PROJECTIONS FOR MICHIGAN TREE SPECIES

The Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science has released a series of short handouts that describe future projections for individual tree species in Michigan under a range of future climate scenarios.  These handouts can help foresters and landowners think about their potential risk from changing conditions and also which species might be favored in the future. Remember, model projections should be considered as general expectations across a large landscape. The unique site conditions at a particular place (soils, topography, water table, forest health issues, past management, etc.) will have a big influence on how these general expectations actually play out, so your local knowledge and management experience should be weighed alongside climate change information.

I think that climate predictions are about 1/3 as accurate as the long term 90 day weather outlook, which tends to run at about 51% accuracy.

This is an interesting mental exercise anyway, so thanks for posting it, Ron. ;D ;D ;D

I also think the trees are a lot more resilient than we are. 8) 8) 8)
They have been through this all before and they are still here.
