Being in an industry where there are sharp, flying objects, we are all aware of the dangers of eye damage.  The best way to protect your eyes is to remain at a distance from flying objects and wear safety glasses.

But, having recently gone through cataract surgery, I've become aware of the dangers of damage from light.  It's a damage that is accumulative and we are generally unaware of it. Ultra Violet light damages the retina, photochemically, and clouds the lens, forming cataracts.   Studies have shown that the visible light spectrum is also damaging to the eyes. Who would have thought that?

We all know that we shouldn't watch a welder or look into the sun, but did you know that your highest danger of UV exposure is from 9am to 3pm everyday?  Had you thought about working in your office, in front of a window, might lead to vision imparement?  Have you considered wearing a hat or visor when in that situation?

Here is a link to an article that might help.
