I have a Husky 268 that has a bad leak. The leak is coming from a 1/4" x 3/4" hole behind the chain tension adjustment screw. :-\  I  know quite a few others have had these holes punched into the oil tanks as well, but the only suggestions I've got was to JB Weld it.  ??? I tried some of that 2 part epoxy putty, but it just fell into the hole when I ran the saw. Maybe I need to clean it out better. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the bar nuts were tightened without the adjustment pin in the bar hole. Very common problem. JB Weld should work but the surrounding metal must be squeaky clean. BrakeCleen or something similar should work.

Thanks, I did JB weld it yesterday, I put a small wood shaving across the gap first to prevent the JBweld from falling into the hole. I cleaned it much better this time with some of that air filter degreaser. It seems to have set up and bonded well. I will try to run the saw today and see if it worked this time. :)
