Title: Adirondack tips
Post by: Logan76 on May 02, 2014, 08:10:03 AM
Howdy, new guy here, I figured I would make my first post about our camping trip me and my wife are taking in a month. We rented a cabin near Jay, NY for 7 days, can any of yinz give us some ideas of cool things to do or places to check out? Were driving up from western Pennsylvania.

Welcome to the Forum Logan76!

I went to college in the Adirondacks (Paul Smiths College).
Lake placid appears to be nearby, that's a touristy type town, but has some neat stuff about the winter olympics also. Whiteface mountain, you can take the auto road up, or hike it. If you're into hiking, you're in a great area, have you heard of the ADK 46 high peaks? LOTS of hiking to do.
The Adirondack museum near Tupper lake is a good destination as well.
Plenty to do, the Adirondacks are great for tourism  :)

Maybe let us know some more about what you're interested in? Hiking, canoeing, fishing, etc. etc.?

Thanks for the welcome fella's, We like to hike, but nothing too crazy, and the trails have to be pet friendly because we have 3 dogs that are going with us. We like to do alot of driving and checking out the scenery and taking pictures...I drive down the highway for a living everyday and I never really get to stop and smell the roses, so we enjoy just cruising around and checking out the scenery. We also like to try out new places to eat.

Stop in Saranac and enjoy the village,
Swing into Tupper and you can go the Wild Museum.
Blue Mountain Lake is also nice.
Bear in mind it will be a little more difficult with the dogs to see certain places,

What is your route to and from??

Travel safe,
