Probably alot of TJ fans know that the old 200 series came from the factory in Quebec with just a basic square butt pan.  Then dealerships, or at least the one here Timberland Machine added full rear fenders and a top section and did a real good job too.   Backing down softwood in the winter was hard to do with exposed rear tires.  Most Canadian machines didn't have the extra steel.   Anyway, I was looking at a few TJ's, 225 and 230, online that arer for sale in Europe and they have this odd sliding butt pan that goes all the way to the ground with a hyd. cyl that seems to pull it up.   Does anyone know what this is for?   It looks really odd in the pics, kind of like the butt pan is falling off.

ive seen them in videos on youtube. not sure what the purpose is. alot of them also have dual winches. ive been told IP used TJs with dual winches in northern maine. fill one winch with spruce and fir, and the other with hardwood. that being said ive never seen one in a bone yard, so i cant prove they were here.

maybe the butt pan lowers for more stable winching, but then lifts the butts higher for transport?
