Any resistance when you press the clutch pedal? Could just be a linkage.. Could Broke out the Center of the Clutch disk too.. seen that a few times

treefarmer87

the clutch feels normal, and it shifts normal, it just wont move. i was just researching and the trans. is a NP 435

Must have a hi-lo and reverser box? Is the drive shaft moving to the transfer case? Out of the transfer? Follow the driveline and that will tell you where the break is hopefully.

If the shaft is turning out of the transfer case, there is power from the motor to and through the transfer case. If the clutch center let go, there would be no power out of the transmission (the driveshaft would not turn).
With the transmission in gear and hi-lo in neutral, check if the PTO shaft to the winch is turning. Step on the clutch and the shaft should stop. If the shaft stops, it ain't the clutch.
The "pop" you heard may have been a gear in the transfer case or even a u-joint.
I just did the clutch on my old TJ- pretty simple set-up. The throwout bearing siezed and went through the pressure plate, acted like no clutch at all- no way to stop power from the motor to the transmission.
Good luck- hope it's something simple.

Sounds like the transfer case popped out of low range.

It was the clutch.  I stopped by his job on on my way home and saw a tranny hanging out of the side of the skidder and many pieces of shattered clutch disk laying on the cab floor.

Only ever seen 2 clutches shatter, The clutch in my '06 F350 6.0l Powerstroke shattered, and I had the Disk in a '85 International Dump truck.. Both times we under heavy accel pulling heavy heavy loads

treefarmer87

had a mechanic help put it all back together today, the clutch is right and the flex plate is wrong on it, and on top of that, that is the only clutch made for that model, they can get, the other is discontinued :( then one of the fingers broke on the pressure plate >:( so tomm. its back to the parts store for a replacement.
