I built the house in 2003-04 and used the 1 inch compressed particle board for the step with 1/2" OSB for the back of the step.  That would be nice if they were hard wood already but not so lucky.  I was cutting last night so should finish tonight cutting then just got to wait till it dries.  The Landing is 3/4 in plywood so I will just make everything the same thickness as it is now so I do not change anything for height difference.

keeping the carpeted stairs clean is the biggest struggle i wish there was an option to just quickly remove the carpet wash it and put it back on real quick
