Bad Beetles

Just uncovered a 3 cord pile of maple, oak and ash and found bad news. Almost every piece had a lot of beetle activity. I've had a slight problem in the past but nothing like this. I have an indoor furnace so can not bring it indoors. °Wondering if this is a bad year for beetles in NW pa.? Have 9 cord split for next year and plan to spray with diesel when weather warms up. Thoughts appreciated.
