Looked at mid 80s 665d. transmission did not like to stay or go into second gear. Got it in under a load and stayed but not right. First and third where fine. Ran Clarks all my life some with high hours Any ideas thanks

do you mean the clutch pack slips? or the valve does not actuate 2nd?

Don't think clutch is slipping more like not going in. More like valve

you need to install a pressure gauge so you can see that it has pressure in all positions. it could just be a linkage problem..........its hard to say, i never saw one act like this.
oldseabee should be along, he will know more.

That's just what she is. Every thing seems to be good but the transmission makes me wonder. Wants in the mid teens for it so don't think the price is bad. Just like to know worst case scenario cost too fix.
