Hello all, I have a piece of Maple that has been air drying for 2 years and is down to 18% mc. As you can see in one of the pics one side is clean, while the other has some rot. My question is when I try to dry this down to a useable mc content will it crack and cup along this seem up the center? Thanks for any feedback.

I believe that if it was going to cup and crack that it already would have.

The drier it goes, the more it shrinks, and so, the more it will cup.  At 18% MC, you still have about 1/3 of the shrinkage that will happen when drying to 8% MC.

Any cracks you have now will likely increase in size, but no new cracks will form.
