I use the same dust mask that you do. But I have to have 3 0r more going at the same time.
They seem to get wet on the inside of my breath and don't work well . So ill put the thing on the truck dash to dry out and use #2 then #3 then later back to the first one
And in the winter they freeze up  :D :D

I am really baffled because the reason that I wear that particular dust mask with the vent is because it does not get wet from condensation.  I do exhale through my mouth and direct the air flow toward the vent.

Now if it is getting wet from sweat, that may be a different situation.   ???

Try a respirator.  I find them much more comfortable and they do a better job.  As a bonus there also cheaper in the long run.

I use the trend airshield which is nice because it blows the air over your face and is cooler and doesn't fog.  Really nice when running the planer.

So I thought the trend was a bit pricey (just under $300) and didn't buy it at first.  Then in the course of a week I got a nasty sinus infection from dust and a splinter that shot past my safety glasses and got me in the eye.  As I reviewed the $600 in co-pays from the ER visit and follow up my wife asked me to review my logic on the trend being a bit pricey!

I use one made by North, it has replaceable filters that can be for dust or organic vapor.

This morning it was 45  not that cold and the mask was all wet in an 1/2 hr.
I think al try the respirator kind.
I did call Wood Mizer to see if they have a 70 mill and remote that will work on my 24' exertion. They have a new one that only has one wire from the head to the remote instead of the track with all the wires in it. Then the dust won't be a problem :D :D :D :D
That's why I bought the walk and ride 40 to get the 24'er.

This is my 3M respirator. 



It has fairly cheap pre-filters to protect the more expensive main filter.  The pre-filter is in my hand. 



I replace the pre-filters maybe once a month depending on what I do and how much.  The main filter is about two years old and still good.  The mask seals good and no leaks.  My glasses don't fog.  Sometimes sweat at the seal bothers me after a few hours but I can wipe my face dry and continue.

I bought it for spray painting as one is a must for the stuff I spray.  I found I like it when sanding, especially cedar so it gets a lot of shop use.  I also use it for grinding steel on the belt grinder...I'm a wannabe knife maker.  One day just as an experiment I tried it while sawing.  I decided I like it a lot better than the white masks.  I don't always wear it depending on the wind and what I'm cutting.

One of the selling points when I bought the TK-2000 was the remote console to keep me out of the dust.  It helps but there still is a lot of flying dust.  If I had the money, I could go for a LT-70 with their remote console as one can really get away from the dust.  I think you would look quite good in a new ORANGE LT-70 Peter.

This is the one that I use:  LINK  I wore the same mask all day today with no moisture buildup problem and it was a hot 96°.  It was the same mask that I wore yesterday.

As I said previously, I am baffled as to why Peter is having moisture problems.  The valve lets the moist air out.

I use the very same one as Magicman.  The only time I have trouble with it being too moist is in the winter (i.e. when the temp is below freezing).

I guess I had better start using a mask of some sort.  So far I have not felt like I have needed one though.

They don't let the sweat out that is running down my face behind the mask.
People do sweat differently, some more than others, and some a LOT more than others. ;)

The more I think about the respirator kind . If cold out I think It would be wet inside too. I'm going to the tunbrige fair sat and I think Jeremy from NY Wood Mizer will be there. He's a smart guy and I bet he knows how to put the 70 together with a 24' ex

Peter, have you considered a wireless remote? That's what I run, and I am not likely to give it up any time soon. Jeremy builds the wireless remotes, or at least he built mine, which was one of the first sold. I can stand anywhere I have to to (Tom) get out of the dust. Pine isn't too bad, but oaks and locust are bad for me.

If you do go with a 70 will you go stationary electric? It's a great excuse to not do portable jobs. :D

Yea the remote is the only way to go and cut 45' other than what I have. I called Wood Mizer to see what they would give me for my 08 LT 40  and get a 70.

I've never run mine with the seat, but given the prevailing winds blowing the sawdust that direction I'm glad I have the basic system. Even a pedestal mount would keep you stuck in one location if the wind was changing direction (as it does occasionally for me).

The way it is now, I can get out of the way no matter which way it is blowing and just let the mill proceed along on it's own.

I was just on the WM website looking at hydraulic mills.  I've been thinking of upgrading my LT15.  Hmmmm.
