So on my way home from a job yesterday I stopped by a friend's place, between adult beverages he mentioned he had a saw for me, said $40 takes it. Of course I envisioned a pile of parts, but to my surprise he produced a Husqvarna 345 that was not only complete (sans a bar), but it started up and ran while I futzed with it so I of course bought it on the spot. Any running husky has to be worth $40 right lol? It looks like some sort of homeowner saw, smaller than anything I have and unfortunately seems to take .325 chain, should I keep it as back up or would I be smarter selling it on eBay and putting the money towards big saw stuff? Anyone run one? I think from my horrible understanding of husky's Vin tags that it's a 2004 model.

Quality saw. I like any 3xx Husky. It is a plastic chassis clamshell but you can put a riser on chassis and put a 346xp jug/slug on it. Similar to a 350 setup.
Husky: 372xt, 272xp, 61, 55 (x3)...Poulan: 315, 4218 (x3), 2375, 2150, 2055, 2000 (x3)...Stihl 011AVT...Homelite XL...Saws come in broken, get fixed or parted, find new homes

I bought a Husky 345 about 8 years ago and it has not failed me once. It's powerful, reliable, and holds its own in any situation I've thrown it into. I put a 16" bar and chain on it because it's more compact making it easier when I'm up in a tree or trimming on the ground.

$40....you stole it or it was stolen...

Good stuff, and that was my first thought, I figured at $40 it had to be stolen, but the more I look at it I think the saw just has roughly 8 million hours on it lol. This saw starts right up and runs but it looks far rougher than even my 20 year old husky's. The VIN tag is still attached so I think this one's safe.

I cut a lot of mostly poplar with a 345, it never gave a moment of trouble. It had an 18" bar for easier limbing but didn't  lack for power as the bar was never buried. Good for weekend warrior but would probably want a bit more for production cutting.
