I'm in the preliminary stages of purchasing a kiln and after researching I understand that Nyle L200M and Woodmizer KD250 are pretty much same kiln. Is there a compelling reason other than cost to pick one versus the other? Any comments on either would be appreciated

I believe that Nyle makes both.  Basically, the same unit.

I have a Woodmizer version of the L200.  They use the exact same kiln unit, but used to have slightly different controllers.

When I bought my L200 through Woodmizer it was designated a DH4000.  It was the Nyle unit with a Honeywell controller.  I really like the Honeywell controller but I don't think it is offered anymore.  I bought my setup in 2002.
