With the extra 6" on the wide head, I find that the debarker won't reach the log on cuts narrower than about 12". I heard that wood Mizer is working on a longer arm to compensate for this. Has anyone heard the same? Or possibly a time frame for the longer arm?

I heard the same when I picked up mine in June. Last time I asked was told the engineers are still on it and I would get a fix when it was available.

That would sure be nice. A flaw, for sure. I'm experiencing the same pain.  :-X

Just called WM in INDY and talked to them about the problem with the debarker the gentleman that I talked to asked his boss about it and he said the engineers were working on it but didn't have a fix yet, and to call back after the second week of January.

Sounds like a typical "run around" scenario!!  >:( :o

I could have used the extension today, I was cutting cedar, the biggest one was about 11" dia. About a dozen were only about 5 or 6" dia.

The service tech that I spoke with said that if you were sawing a lot of small logs you could move your debarker to the other set of holes back towards the motor then it should work on the smaller logs. I don't know but I am guessing this is where the debarker goes on a normal LT 40. It don't look like it would be hard to move but just about the time a guy gets it moved then you would probably have a large log to saw.

Yeah that wouldn't work for me, most of what I saw is on the bigger end of the scale. This is the first job I've done where there was a lot of little logs.

Hello,
All LT40 and LT50 mills will have a new Debarker design starting January 1 2018. Wide or Standard head will have the same Debarker design.
More info to come. I would not recommend flooding WM with calls. I will keep you all informed as the information trickles down.

Thank you Marty! Does it sound like those of us who have the originals will be upgraded. Or will we have to purchase the new design?
