I never dreamed that I would see the day that we would have to vote on who marries who, but we did, and it is still man and woman. Missouri voted to ban gay marriage.

I may have to return to Missouri to gain a little common sense, seems lacking in a lot of states. :-/

This gay marriage stuff just drives me nuts. All the problems we have here in the states and away, and it seems like are most concerns is this gay thing.

I think we need to keep our own 'house' in order too, even tho we are plenty busy helping out the other people in the world. Nice to hear MO is getting the job done. Heck, even the French have it figured out.

Claire is cuter anyway.  Pretty good old broad all in all.  Good part is I don't think I'll mind her if she wins.  Liked her here in KC.

I haven't figured out the gay marriage thing either.  I've got two things I haven't figured out yet.

1) marriage is a religious institution recognized by the state, yet most of those type really hate religion.

2) I thought marriage was a great thing until I did it, now I'm not so sure...(my wife never checks out this site, I'm safe).

Right now it is a gimmick for them, but not in MO.  Hopefully we've moved from the "show me" state to the "follow me" state.  Heck, we even took away Brother Noble's casino, that didn't pass either.  Although I think Kansas City gigged itself with another stadium in downtown.  I do like suburbia, I just hope the county stays away.

Gay marriage is a side effect of something much larger and not the cause of anything, except people seeking love in all the wrong places.

The problem goes much deeper and the hetrosexuals, imo, are to blame. If any one wants to discuss it further, e-mail me after reading Romans 1:26. It pretty much explains it all.

I think where most people get hung up on this gay marriage thing is their inability to separate church from state.  Marriage in the church sense is a sacrament and each church is free to set that standard.  Marriage in the state sense is a legal recognition and should be availabe to all who are willing to abide by the legal status.  Unfortunately many of the heteros miss the boat on both scores.
I do not support second-class citizenship for anyone so I could never support a constitutional ammendment or stae law that discriminated against a group of people - especially on religious grounds.  Our founding fathers stipulated a division between church and state for a reason.

My opinion is...............mine , 8) 8) 8)
I feel some groups do not deserve state recognition or need it and that the devaluation of the institution of marriage to ANYTHING goes
group marriage,  ,gay marriage , marriage to inanimate objects or animals next?
(and can be called a legal marriage) will wreak havoc on our nations as it has in scandinavia already...... :)

and that the framers determined thier should be no state sponsered religion, NOT that the obviously judeo christian basis of common law and all our laws should be magically thrown away after the passage of  230 years ... :)

That said these hot topics are a weak distraction from our common friendship and passion .........sure we wonna go here?????? ;)  got some pics of a tree , or wood , or saw :D

I know better than to do this but if we all agreed on everything we'd be pretty boring. So let me say this: I think there are a lot more important things in the world to worry about than gay marriage.

When I was going to graduate school I saw some pretty convincing biochemical evidence that the brains in these folks are very different from heterosexuals. This being the case I've accepted as fact that gays are different, and not because of preference. I personally don't like laws that affect people because of their biochemical differences, nor do I like laws that discriminate based on religious or racial differences (especially after visiting a couple of concentration camps). I've always tried to respect other people and their beliefs and in my opinion if two loving people want to be together then so be it.

It would seem that a union of two species that can not procreate is unnatural.  Would the living things we find naturally occuring not be an example of how things were intended to be.

The issue of same sex marriages is not an issue of the seperation of Church and State.  The Church did not make up the moral laws which it endevours to follow, they are considered to be given by a higher authority.

If the State agrees to the same "rules" as the Church that a marriage consists of the union of a man and woman only is that a situation where the Church is dictating what the State shall do, or are they just in agreement with the moral law giver?

Religion or "religious" people did not make up the rule that only a man and a woman shall marry, they are only trying to follow the a stipulation given by a higher authority.

It would seem to me this whole gay marraige is not an issue between Church and State, as I stated the Church did not make the law, but an issue with the moral law giver.

I a court of law we know who has the last word.
