My wife surprised me today with a cherry handle she turned  for one of my antique cant hook it's so nice I'm afraid to use it.

Wow, what a nice gift!  I would use that as a display item and let the logrites do the real work.  If used, I could see the cherry splitting if overworked.

Logrite makes great cant hooks and peavys.
